Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen, a former midwife as well as a nurse from Norway. She
was born April 25 1969, in Katy. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is an
engineer born in Switzerland. They were have been married since 1963. Drew
Zellweger was Renee's older brother. He is an executive in marketing and was
born February 15, 1967. Renee became interested in acting at the age of 14 as
she worked in the drama group. She took an acting class at the University of
Texas (Austin) and began thinking about acting as a profession. She was
determined to pursue acting after graduating. But, Hollywood can be difficult
to make it into so Renee decided that she would stay in Texas and attempt to
audition for roles around Houston. In Houston, she got roles in films like
Reality Bites (1994), and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey was
another Hollywood newcomer that she met on set for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2:
The Next Generation (1994). Renee observed him on a project which attracted
her. She auditioned and was awarded the role in Love and A.45 (1994). The film
received enough praise from critics and a decision to move to Los Angeles.
Another part in The Whole Wide World (1996) followed which led to her first big
break. Cameron Crowe was busy with casting Jerry Maguire (1996) with Tom
Cruise. Crowe was taking a look at actresses like Bridget Fonda and Marisa
Tomei when they appeared on Zellweger's The Whole Wide World (1996). The
audition was conducted by Zellweger to confirm that she was indeed his Dorothy
Boyd. Renee was able to continue her huge success with small independent films.
She was praised again from critics, and was certain that she would be ready to
make a return to big-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep was a co-star in One
True Thing (1998). Also, she starred with Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene
(2000) and began to be romantically involved with Carrey shortly thereafter. in
the title role in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
