Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on the 24th of August, 1972. DuVernay was able to explore her creative and artistic side as a child, thanks to Aunt Denise. The aunt was on during the night shift as a nurse, so she could indulge her passion of theater and literature throughout the day. DuVernay was captivated by the film of 1961 West Side Story after her aunt introduced it to DuVernay. DuVernay was taught by her mother that the art form could be utilized to engage people. DuVernay was raised by a mother who was socially conscious and showed her how to utilize art as a method to express herself. DuVernay, who grew up with her family in Compton, spent each summer at Lowndes County Alabama in the family home of her father. Her father was awed by the historical Civil Rights march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the nearby city of Selma Alabama. DuVernay toured Selma in the summers and was later motivated to make a documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay earned her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. After graduation she was enrolled at an institution called the University of California Los Angeles which she graduated with qualifications in English and African American studies. While she was still a student DuVernay was interested in creating for television journalism. She began her career working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being asked examine the garbage in the house of one of the jury. Due to her duties she was dissatisfied with journalism and moved into the business of publicity. DuVernay started her career as a junior publicity assistant at a small film studio, right after graduating from college. The company she founded for her own PR, The DuVernay Agency was established in 1999. Alongside PR, her agency launched a number of lifestyle and promotional networks including The Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley is born with the birth astrological sign. Autumn Riley is an American actress who is famous for American Experience (1997) and A More Perfect Union (2009).
