Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora is a British singer-songwriter. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is the granddaughter of her mother. At the age of one, her family decided to move to the United Kingdom. She was born in West London. She attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School, Earls Court. After that she was able to graduate from Sylvia Young Theatre School followed by St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College. She sang from an early age. In 2004, she appeared in the British movie Spivs. She was a contestant on Eurovision: Your Country requires You on BBC One to be the British contestant for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest but then pulled out of the contest after a few weeks because she did not feel ready. Ora's debut music release came in 2007 when she featured in Craig David's track "Awkward" as well as in 2008 on "Where is Your Love" featuring Tinchy Stryder. Also, she appears in the music videos. Ora began performing in bars in and around London In 2009, an A&R representative told Roc Nation about Ora, just a few days following Ora went to New York and met Jay-Z. Ora was in Jay-Z's 2009 music video "Young Forever", and "Over" from Drake. Jay-Z saw Ora and quickly signed her up to Roc Nation. She was featured in a commercial featuring Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was the proprietor of a pub and she began her singing career in that pub. Gwen Stefani was her major influence. Her father was a bar owner and she began her singing performances from the same bar. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are close friends.
