Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, and is also the host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and pumped-up persona Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals straightforward, simple techniques to master to cook at home on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked in the top New York restaurant chains, delved into Italian cuisine as well as its traditions. She also was a contestant on Food Network Iron Chef America. When she was growing up in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for culinary arts and food at very young. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her when she finished with the Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America has been a fantastic experience for me. There was no way to be able to learn and do enough or put in the hours. Chef Burrell was a graduate of The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy worked for one year in Umbria in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, the Michelin-starred restaurant. It was during this time that her experience in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian philosophy and culture, and it has had an impact on her own food and culinary experience. Burrell served as a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that aims to make a difference in children's lives who are facing obstacles. Additionally, she is a Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador which promotes an awareness campaign on juvenile diabetes. She travels frequently around the United States in her position as a mentor and an invited speaker, where she talks about her work and passion for cooking. Through her culinary adventures, Anne has often said that I am blessed to be able to share my true passion in life with others.
